How it works

Initial consultation

A one-hour meeting to understand the matter, identify the issues and tell you honestly whether you need a solicitor at all.

Scope and engagement

A written engagement letter with the work to be done, who will do it, the timetable and the fee basis, signed before we begin.

Advice and conduct of the matter

Written advice at each stage, monthly updates on cost against estimate, and no significant step taken without your instruction.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Send us a message and we'll reply within a day.

How are your fees calculated?
Defined work is quoted as a fixed fee. Where the scope cannot be fixed, we work to a written estimate at published hourly rates and update you monthly against it.
Can you tell me my chances of winning?
We can set out the strengths and weaknesses of a case, the realistic range of outcomes and the likely cost of each route. No solicitor can properly guarantee a result, and we will not offer one.
How quickly will you respond?
New instructions are acknowledged within forty-eight hours and retainer clients within one working day. Urgent matters are escalated to the partner directly.
Do you take on work outside your four practice areas?
No. We refer criminal, immigration, family and complex tax matters to firms we know and would use ourselves, and we tell you why we are referring.
Is the first consultation free?
The first hour is charged at a reduced fixed fee, which we credit against your bill if you instruct us. That keeps the meeting substantive rather than a sales conversation.
Who will I actually deal with?
The partner named in your engagement letter. Where junior colleagues assist, they are supervised and their time is charged at their own, lower rate.
